This is a great piece, superbly decorated by the hands of one of our best painters. The decoration was taken from the Italian Renaissance period and is a more refined version of Raphaelesque. The classic dragon face characteristic of Raphael's decoration has been humanized and the frothy volutes coming out of the animal man's mouth have been accentuated.
The background blue and sand color perfectly accentuate the refinement of this perfect object.
