Our Philosophy

In each piece signed MOD Ceramics — Maioliche Originali Deruta — there is much more than an object: there is a gesture, a story, a vision.

We were born in Deruta, where ceramics is not only art, but identity. Our work stems from a deep respect for a centuries-old tradition, which we continue to guard with pride. But we don't just repeat: reinterpreting is our way of honoring the past while looking to the future.

We believe that craftsmanship is a living language. Brushes guided by experience and heart turn emotion into color, tracing marks that give life to timeless works.

MOD stands for Maioliche Originali Deruta — the authentic heart of our story. Behind these three letters lives the soul of a family that has been guarding the art of ceramics for generations, with passion, dedication and love for their land.

What drives us

Four pillars of our craft

Living Tradition

We don't freeze the past: we renew it every day, keeping the soul of Deruta ceramics alive.

Authenticity

Every creation is entirely handmade: every line, every shade, every color from the unique gesture of the artisan.

Everyday Elegance

We bring the beauty of art into everyday life, turning every gesture into a special moment.

Respect

We honor the earth, materials, time and craftsmanship, believing in conscious and sustainable production.

Our Story

How MOD was born: Delia, Antonio and their family

Delia, a charismatic woman, left her job as a painter at the Ars Artigiana factory to found her small workshop "Ceramiche Delia," located on the ground floor of their home. In 1970, Antonio joined her, and together they transformed it into MOD — Maioliche Originali Deruta. Working 12–14 hours a day, their first months were immediately successful, with customers from the Amalfi Coast ordering thousands of pieces.

After Antonio's recovery from a serious illness, the family bought a building in 1979 and moved to their current location on Via Tiberina in Deruta. With Ivan and Grazia joining the business, sales gradually shifted to the international market — the United States alone absorbing over 70% of sales.

In 2000, they expanded the building, dedicating one floor to the Romano Ranieri Ceramics Art School, still active today. In the following years, Giacomo and Selene grew into the business with passion.

In 2020, Grazia left us prematurely. Antonio passed away in 2023, followed in 2024 by dear Delia. Today, Ivan continues to work with dedication alongside Giacomo and Selene, carrying forward the legacy of a life built on passion and commitment.
